We collaborate together for the Future We Desire!

Blue Carbon Tanzania (BCT) works with coastal communities in Tanzania and contributes to climate mitigation through conservation, protection, and restoration, maximizing benefits for both marine ecosystems (seagrasses, mangroves and coral reefs) and building the resilience of the coastal communities through additional alternative sources of income. To date, we have adapted over 1000 hectares of mangroves, 2600 hectares of coral reefs, 3000 hectares of seagrasses and over 500 hectares potentially suitable for seaweed farming. The restoration, conservation and marine biodiversity rescue are underway to ensure sustainability, women’s empowerment and improving livelihood.

Mission

Safeguarding marine critical systems for biodiversity, climate mitigation and improving the livelihood of the coastal communities.

Vision

Protect, Restore and Maximize social, ecological and climate resilience benefits from the marine systems through research, programs and collaborations.
